Crack a Bottle Single Album Cover“Crack a Bottle” by Eminem featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, is the first single to be released for Eminem’s Relapse album. It has jumped 77 places to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, setting a new first-week record for download sales. The single sets a new sales record by selling 418,000 downloads, surpassing the prior record of 335,000 downloads from last October’s single by TI & Rihanna “Live Your Life”.

A track that featured Bishop Lamont, 50 Cent & a hook by R. Kelly has been leaked on the internet. The track could be the first listen to an album 10 years in the making, Detox.  Interscope and Dr. Dre have not commented on the leak but sources close to Dre said that he is angry that the track leaked so early mainly because it’s not mixed and mastered.

The track doesn’t exactly have a signature Dre sound to it, and is not what you would expected to hear.  The track doesn’t have a vibe of a West Coast or a gangster rap sound. I come away after listening to it somewhat disappointed. I take it as a solid beat, that has a hint of R&B but it certainly doesn’t make the statement I was hoping for from the first potential Detox track.

This marks the third Dr. Dre produced track to hit the web in the past three days.

[UPDATE, 1/13/09]

In an interview with 50 Cent yesterday, the rapper says that the track that was leaked was recorded over 2 years ago. I’d assume that the track won’t be a part of Detox with the leak coming so far in advance of the album.

A few noteworthy things about the tracklisting.

- Dr. Dre is producing and is featured lyricly in “Ready for War”

- Dr. Dre is producing a total of 4 tracks.

-Eminem is producing 2 tracks and is featured in 1.

-Nate Dogg is featured in track 5 “Here for a Reason”, which marks his first appearance on an album since he had 2 strokes in 2008. Akon somehow tried to replace him as the new hook master, but I’m sure Nate will come back with a vengence.

After over a year drought of Dr. Dre productions, we have been blessed with two production released on the same day. The first, formerly titled “Number One” an unfinished version of the newly released “Crack A Bottle”. It features 50 Cent and a rare verse from Dr. Dre. Compared to the leaked incomplete version, “Number One”, “Crack A Bottle” seems a bit more polished , and the CD quality audio vs. the Bootleg DJ-Shout-Out-Version probably helped.

Months ago, Dre said in a perfect world, he would like his album out by the end of 2008, and to nobody’s surprise the album was delayed yet again. By the looks of it now, Eminems album will be finished in January, and with about 2 months to promote it, we’ll see it released sometime in late February/early March. Assuming Dre stays on track with Detox after completing Eminem’s album, WestCoastFlow.com predicts an early Summer release of Detox followed by an Up In Smoke 2 Tour, which Bishop Lamont has already confirmed.

WestCoastFlow.com Aftermath calander prediction :

January 2009: 50 Cent releases “Before I Self Destruct”

March 2009: Eminem releases “Relapse”

June 2009: Dr. Dre releases Detox

July 2009: Up In Smoke 2 Tour

“Before I Self Destruct” has reportedly been pushed back again. The album move comes as 50 Cent was rushing to get his album finished for a December release. With the deadline approaching to secure advertising and retail placement for the album, the decision was made to move to a date in early 2009.

According to a statement from Interscope records, the rapper was feeling rushed to meet the initial release date of December 16, so a decision was made to push it back to early next year.

Despite all of this, and for further confusion, 50 was at UFC 91 last night in Las Vegas and in a quick interview with Joe Rogan, 50 Cent still claims the album will be released on December 9th.

More updates on the situation as it become available on WestCoastFlow.com

The first single and video, Get Up, from Before I Self Destruct was released yesterday.

Just a minor setback in the Aftermath camp, “Before I Self Destruct” will get pushed back one week from December 9th to December 16th. Possibly to create a larger gap between the Kanye West west album release and 50′s release so album sales can die off from “808′s and Heartbreaks”.

50′s album is said to features production from Dr. Dre, Eminem, Scott Storch, Sha Money XL and Ty Fyffe, Play-N-Skillz, J. R. Rotem and Timbaland.

“Before I Self Destruct”, the movie and the album, will be released on Dec 16th.

UPDATE (11/16): The Album will now be released ‘Early 2008′. Full Story HERE.

50 Cent is the latest artist confirmed to perform on next month’s Total Finale Live, joining Beyoncé on the two-hour special. And when you’ve got a lineup that big, there’s only one man you can call to host it all: Carson Daly.

Total Finale Live will air Sunday, November 16 at 8pm ET. In addition to the performances, fans can expect in-studio appearances from a host of TRL faves, including Ludacris, Mariah Carey, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Taylor Swift, Fred Durst and members of Good Charlotte and Korn. Former TRL VJs Dave Holmes, Jesse Camp, La La Vasquez and Hilarie Burton will also be on hand for the festivities (a show this big needs lots of hosts, after all).

Though the TRL finale is still weeks away, the celebration of the show’s history is already revving up. Throughout the course of the month, MTV.com and MTV News will feature special retrospective countdowns and give fans a look back at the best moments from the show’s decade-long run.

And on the show’s official site, TRL.MTV.com, viewers can check out video highlights, photo galleries of past guests and a decade’s worth of pictures taken in the famed TRL photo booth. On November 16, the site will also feature behind-the-scenes coverage of the event, plus red-carpet photos from the Total Finale Live preshow.

“It’s a catch-22,” the rapper said over the weekend in Las Vegas, referring to the criticism he received for Curtis, an album that he calls “softer” than Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and The Massacre. “They’ll say, ‘Oh, it’s too aggressive.’ … Soon as you do something that’s a little more lighthearted, and you can play the whole record and feel like you don’t have to cover your kid’s ears, I get penalized for it. So get ready to cover your kid’s ears. Now I’m really interested in seeing how the public responds.” ‘Get Up,’ is just the appetizer,” he said on Saturday, in a separate interview at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. “I got so much more, so many different records to feel out and see what direction I wanna go in next. I’ve been writing this record for a year. I started Before I Self Destruct before I started Curtis. Conceptually, this one has been very well-groomed.”

Unlike Curtis, which had cameos from Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige and Robin Thicke, it doesn’t seem like 50 is too interested in having collaborators stop by the studio this time around. Eminem is the only name he shared. (50 described the record “Norman Bates Motel” as “the return of Slim Shady.”)

“So far, I’ve kinda kept to myself and wrote what I felt was exciting from my perspective, It’s always fun working with Em for me. He’s in a space where he has the luxury of just being able to sit down. The rest of us … me, I do the actual footwork. Dre hasn’t had an album out in seven years. Em — two years. Me — seven, eight months. They send me out to test the waters, and everyone else will jump in the tub. I stay a little more active. Em is by far the biggest rap artist, period. I’m the largest hip-hop touring artist. I travel more places than he travels to be in front of a live audience.”

50 traveled to Detroit to stay with Em twice while recording. One time was over the span of a weekend, and Em encouraged his signee to carry out his idea of shooting a movie to accompany the album.

“He’s like, ‘Go, just do it. If you wanna go, just do it, and we’ll figure everything out after the fact,’ ” 50 recalled. “There were a few technical questions, considering this is my fourth and final actual studio album. My fifth album requirement [to Shady/Aftermath] is a greatest-hits requirement.”

The film “Before I Self Destruct” will be packaged with the album on December 9
